We recently took a trip into outer space with Microgaming's online slot Starscape. For a game that is set in the black abyss of space, it is actually a really colourful outing with some bright artwork displayed on the reels. The game catches your eye straight away, and players will be drawn in on the graphics alone. The game does look like it offers a pretty compelling gaming experience, so we have had a few spins to see if it is worth playing or not. The game also has a couple of bonus features which we have also tested and all the essential information on Starscape is detailed below.

Our Verdict:

This game might feel slightly dated to some players, and there are undoubtedly games out there with more powerful graphics but this five reel offers twenty-five paylines and we had good fun playing it overall. The game will draw players in because of its bright and colourful design, but the lack of bonus features might have more experienced players looking elsewhere for slots with more content. We think this is an ideal option for newer players as it is simple, fuss-free and good fun with the minimum bet being just a penny, so there are cheap thrills to be had for those on a budget.

Wild Symbol:

There is a wild symbol available on Starscape which is represented by the Starscape logo which is black and blue in colour so you cannot really miss it. This doubles the pay-out of any combination created as a wild. It can also create its own winning combination when it appears more than once in a line on a specific payline. These pay-outs are not multiplied, and the wild symbol does not substitute for the scatter symbol. Essentially, this symbol helps increase the likelihood of winning combinations so keep an eye out for it.

Starscape Bonus:

This is a slightly different bonus feature to those available on most other slot games, and basically this is triggered by landing 3, 4 or 5 of the spaceship symbols anywhere on the reels. This activates the bonus round, and you will be presented with a grid and all you need to do is pick the spaces until you've matches four symbols. Depending on the specific set that you complete, you will be rewarded with a cash prize of a specific value. You also pick up multipliers here of varying amounts so overall this is a useful feature and one of the main parts of the game.

Auto-Play:

Microgaming offer good auto-play options on their games, and you can set Starscape to play up to 500 games on your behalf which will save the player a lot of clicks. We found this feature particularly useful as players that are perhaps betting low but with a lot of spins can get tired of the constant repetitive clicking. This function combats this really well and is particularly suitable for those players that are on a budget as they can set how much they want to spend.
